Flow's lineage is almost as long as the history of modern dentistry. Harry Wolf began making X-Ray products in 1931. At the time his product line was primarily X-Ray mounts, developing hangers, and viewboxes. Many other products soon followed.

In the mid 1970's, under the second generation of Wolf family ownership, the original company split into two entities: Wolf X-ray served the medical market and Flow X-ray the dental market. Flow then expanded its product line to include dental x-ray film, film positioners (including the popular RAPiD system), lead protective aprons, and many other essential imaging products. Beginning in 2000, Flow used its imaging expertise to begin making products for sensor and phosphor plate digital imaging.

Today we have one of the most popular selling array of digital imaging accessories available anywhere, including the top selling line of Safe'n'Sure phosphor plate envelopes, the SMART Positioning System, Snuggies and Comfees sensor sleeves, and Perfect Fit universal camera sleeves. In 2022 we launched several items for the CBCT market segment. Under the third generation of Wolf family ownership, Flow has rebranded itself as Flow Dental. This signals the company's plans to expand beyond imaging – to bring to dental professionals an even more comprehensive catalog of products, all with the same quality and reliability that they have come to expect from Flow X-Ray.

In 2021 Flow relocated to North Carolina, where our manufacturing facilities provide us with the capacity and flexibility to address our customers needs now and in the future. On behalf of all the employees of Flow Dental, we thank you for your patronage and support.
